The special election in Massachusetts is turning out to be a referendum on Obamacare and the Democrats’ agenda.  Possibly predictive of catastrophic failure in the mid-term and beyond, the Republican Scott Brown is now leading Democrat Martha Coakley by as many as 5 points according to some polls.

The seat held by the late Ted Kennedy was thought to be a given for the Democrats but missteps by Coakley as well as rejection of the massively expensive healthcare bill – a 2,000-plus page monster which would require every American to purchase a private insurance policy (a legislative first and possibly unconstitutional) – have put the election up for grabs.

The Senate seat has not been in Republican hands since 1952.
