Fox is reporting that Democrat Martha Coakley has conceded the election to Republican Scott Brown in the special election for the senate seat vacated by the late Ted Kennedy.

In what has been viewed as a national referendum on Obama’s agenda and predictive of the 2010 mid-term elections, Brown gained points in the final days of the campaign.

The results are especially indicative because this Senate seat has not been occupied by a Republican in 58 years, until now.

The AP, according to Fox News, is now declaring Brown the winner.
