McDonald's Golden Arch

McDonald's is taking voluntary action to recall Shrek glasses after a federal agency found cadmium in the cups' painted designs.

They look nice but may be deadly if you drink from one!

If you recently purchased one of McDonald’s Shrek glasses, return it (see details below) or put it on shelf – but don’t use it for its intended purpose.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the painted designs on these promotions contain cadmium which is known to cause cancer and kidney damage, among other problems.

McDonald’s is recalling its glasses “voluntarily,” according to its website dealing with this issue.  The company also says that they had tested the glassware prior to distribution and they at that time  ascertained the cups “to be in compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements” by “an independent third-party laboratory.”

Beginning June 8, you will be able to return the glasses you bought for a refund.  Go to http://www.mcdonalds.com/glasses or telephone toll-free at 1-800-244-6227 for instructions.
