UPDATE: This is an update to yesterday’s post:
MSNBC IS REPORTING THAT THE LIST OF ADVERTISERS WHO HAVE DROPPED RUSH LIMBAUGH IS NOW AS HIGH AS TWENTY. ALSO, AT LEAST TWO RADIO STATIONS HAVE CANCELLED LIMBAUGH’S SHOW.
AOL is the latest advertiser to say to bye-bye to Rush Limbaugh. This brings the total to at least nine who are walking away after Limbaugh last week verbally assaulted a female law student half Limbaugh’s age.
Limbaugh apologized over the weekend for referring to the young woman using words I will not repeat here. Limbaugh’s apology of course comes more from his own greedy attempt to stay in the money with his advertisers. But obviously AOL isn’t buying his apology either as they announced today that they would no longer sponsor his show.
From how it looks now, Limbaugh will be left with only his own iced tea brand to carry his program. Here is the list of advertisers to drop Limbaugh:
- AOL
- Carbonite
- Go To Meeting (Citrix Online)
- Go To My PC (Citrix Online)
- Pro Flowers
- Legal Zoom
- Cleveland Cavaliers
- Quicken Loans
- Sleep Number
- The Sleep Train
This is not the first time that Limbaugh has used sexually abusive language against women but it may be his last as social pressure on advertisers to drop him is working. What is different about this instance is that the young law student is a private citizen, not a public personality. The language used against her is perverted and ignorant. People are using social media sites to put the pressure on sponsors to drop Limbaugh. Maybe this time, if people keep up this pressure, Limbaugh will finally be off the air.
