California Democrat Pete Stark has been in office for 37 years, since 1973.
This video shows he has been in office too long.
At a town hall meeting last month in Hayward, California, a voter asked Stark about the government assuming authority to force people to purchase private healthcare policies as part of Obamacare.
“If the Federal Government can do this, what can’t it do?” the woman directly questioned Stark.
“The Federal Government can do most anything in this country,” Stark responded, hardly noticing the immediate boo’s from the other voters.
Stark is just one of many fossils in the House and Senate who have been in office for decades and multiple terms. Most, but not all, of these long-term members of Congress have gotten used to the power that comes with the office. With increasing election funding every term, these fossils usually face little competition at election time.
Perhaps this Fall will be different and Stark, and others like him, will be looking for new jobs!
